One thing is correct; it does take effort to gain a flatter stomach, but who wouldn't? Looking good physically fit and in shape can do wonders to a person's confidence. When trying to achieve the look, there are two factors that need to be taken into consideration.
One is diet. It doesn't matter exercise you do, without the right diet, you may not see any results. A diet that consists of lots of vegetables (yes, foods such as broccoli and cauliflower) can help burn fat, whilst fruits such as oranges, grapefruits and various berries can also have a similar impact. Eating a high protein diet consisting of fish will also aid in burning fat.
The second is exercise. Besides a well rounded cardio routine, doing good stomach exercises will help reduce your girth around the waist and aid in developing that cherished six pack.
Here are three successful exercises which burn belly fat:
1. The Rectus Abdominis Exercise (Bicycle Exercise)
This exercise is regarded as the best exercise for Rectus Abdominis, otherwise known as the "Six Pack". Performing it is rather simple:
• Firstly, lie on the floor and place the palms of your hands behind your head.
• Next, bring your knees to your chest, keeping your neck still.
• Keeping your hands behind your back, move your left elbow towards the knee on your right leg, turning your upper body to the right side.
• Return to your elbow back to the original position and repeat the movement with your right elbow on your left leg.
2. Reverse Abdominal Crunch
This exercise is great for the lower abdominal area, particularly the area where fat tends to build up. Many fit people have weak lower abdominal muscles in addition to those looking to lose weight. The exercise is rather simple:
• Lie on your back with legs stretched out and your hands placed behind your lower back.
• Slowly, lift your legs in a position perpendicular to the floor, keeping your legs straight. Lift as high as possible, keeping your lower back flat on the floor.
• Hold for 3-5 seconds before lowering, stopping just before the legs touch the floor.
• Repeat several times
Be prepared to feel your abdominals burn when initially doing this. As mentioned earlier, many people have weak lower abdominals and it may take some time to get used to this exercise.
3. The Exercise Ball
This exercise requires purchasing an exercise ball but can be rather fun. Despite being fun, it is a rather effective method for achieving a flatter stomach:
• Lie down on the ball with the ball place under the mid to lower section of your back
• Place your hands behind your head and carry out a normal abdominal crunch
• Ensure that you keep the ball stable as you lift your head towards your hips.
